Sephardic Anusim Intermarrying
What is very interesting is how our parents and their forefathers wound up marrying among our own people. In some instances, they found each other despite their coming from different Spanish kingdoms that were pioneered and settled by secret Jews of Iberia. This only goes to show the extent to which our forefathers would go in order to marry entre nuestra misma gente. (This reminds me of our Bible patriarchs such as Isaac and Jacob whose wives were fetched from related families in faraway lands.)
There is an interesting parallel between the marriage of my parents, Helen’s parents and Helen and I. For instance, Helen’s paternal grandparents came from Ciudad Acuña, Mexico. Her father was born in Del Rio, Texas. This was in El Nuevo Reino del Leon. He managed to find his wife who was from La Nueva Galicia in northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado.
In like manner, my father’s paternal family came from Montemorelos, Mexico in El Nuevo Reino del Leon. Similar to Helen’s case, grandfather Delfino married a Sephardic girl of the Tafolla family from among the founders of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Many of them wound up here in San Antonio, Texas. His wife died early in their marriage so grandfather Delfino married an Elizondo girl from a large Sephardic family of the epicenter of Sephardic Anusim in El Nuevo Reino de Leon in Monterrey, Mexico. (By the way, Don Luis de Carvajal was the first known Sephardi to enter this land but another Sephardi by name of Don Diego de Montemayor was the better known founder/leader of Monterey.
Me? I found Helen in a southern California college. She’d come from La Nueva Galicia in Colorado and I’d come from El Nuevo Reino del Leon in Texas. I beat my grandparents in terms of how far I went in order to find my Sephardic wife hundreds of miles to the west.
Traces of our history can be seen in the Jewish Talmud – “Tinnok Shenishba Beyin Hagogim.”
While our forefathers were yet in Spain many of their children were kidnapped from their Sephardic parents and placed in Catholic homes, including Catholic institutions. When Jews were expelled from Portugal in 1497, all children 14 or younger were taken from their families and also placed in Catholic homes to be reared as Gentile Catholics. Dr. Rabbi Marc D. Angel, Chief Rabbi Emeritus of Shearith Israel in NYC specifically revealed to me that the Talmud states that as these children of the survivors of the Inquisitions awaken to their true Jewish roots, the Jewish community is to assist them in their recovery from a Gentile society.
In my case, it wasn’t that I was reared by someone else—because I wasn’t supposed to be born at all. My mother had lost five or six infants due to miscarriage. Specialists told her to give up on her efforts to have a child and to simply adopt. But Dad refused their report so he locked himself in my maternal grandparent’s home in a Westside barrio and cried out to the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for a son to Whom he’d dedicate for his entire life (kind of like little Samuel of the Old Testament, the Tanakh).
This was the home where, as a boy, I’d often hear Papa Lupe read the Scripture that refers to something very beautiful in Israel’s Desert, the Negev. This Scripture is found in Yesha’Yahu 35:6: Then will the lame leap like a deer, and the mute tongue shout for joy. Water will gush forth in the wilderness and streams in the desert. -- Grandpa often quoted this entire passage so every time I’d hear him say “Manantiales en el desierto” something more profound than words can express would leap with expectancy and a mysterious sense of belonging—like something I would connect and become one with at some point in my life.
Papa Lupe’s home was very humble on a shotgun lot on Torreon alley. However, his home was the most pro-Israel, pro-Jewish home I’ve ever experienced. This is where I learned about some of our mysterious Sephardic customs and practices. However, despite all these ancient practices and customs, they used to think these practices were merely cultural or familial at best, but not Jewish. They had been disconnected for way too long to perceive the underpinnings of their relevance to their Sephardic Anusim ancestry. Funny thing, every time Helen and I travel through Israel, it’s like seeing my family and community all over the place. They not only look identical but behave like them.

Casamiento Entre Sefardíes Anusim
Lo que me parece más interesante es como nuestros ancestros se casaban entre nuestro mismo pueblo. En algunos instantes, los hombres y mujeres se encontraban a pesar de que vivían en diferentes reinos que fueron establecidos por Judios secretos de Iberia. Esto comprueba hasta qué punto y hasta donde iban para casarse entre la misma gente de uno. (Esto me recuerda de los patriarcas bíblicos como Isaac y Jacob cuyas esposas fueron traídas de familiares desde tierras lejanas.)
Hay un paralelo interesante entre el casamiento de mis padres…los padres de Helen y también el mío con Helen. Por ejemplo, los padres paternos de Helen vinieron de Ciudad Acuña, México. Su padre nació en Del Rio, Texas. Este era el Nuevo Reino del León. El logro encontrar a su esposa que era del Nuevo Reino de Galicia en el norte de Nuevo México y el Sur de Colorado.
De semejante manera, la familia paterna de mi padre vino de Montemorelos, México en el Nuevo Reino del León. Semejante al caso de Helen, mi abuelo Delfino se casó con una mujer Sefardí de la familia Tafolla de entre los fundadores de Santa Fe, Nuevo México, de la Nueva Galicia. Muchos de ellos llegaron hasta San Antonio, Texas. Su esposa se murió temprano en su matrimonio así es que abuelo Delfino se casó con una mujer Elizondo de una familia grande de Monterrey, México. (Suele ser que Don Luis de Carvajal fue el primer líder Sefardí para entrar esta tierra pero otro Sefardí llamado Don Diego de Montemayor fue el mejor conocido como el fundador y líder de Monterrey.
¿Y yo? Yo encontré a Helen en un colegio en el Sur de California. Ella había venido del Nuevo Reino de Galicia en Colorado y yo del Nuevo Reino del León en Texas. Le gane a mis abuelos en términos de la distancia de donde encontré a mi esposa mas de mil millas al oeste de mi.

Mientras que nuestros ancestros estaban todavía en España, muchos de los hijitos fueron secuestrados de sus familias Sefardíes y puestos en hogares e instituciones Católicos. Pero mi padre rehusó este reporte y se atranco en un cuarto de mis abuelos maternos en un barrio del oeste de mi ciudad en tanto le clamaba al Dios de Abraham, Isaac y Jacob por un hijo a quien el dedicaría para el servicio del Su reino (tal como el niñito Samuel en el Antiguo Testamento o el Tanakh).
Este fue el hogar donde, de niño, muy seguido oía a Papa Lupe leer las Escrituras Sagradas que se refieren a algo muy bello tocante al desierto de Israel, el Neguev. Esta Escritura se encuentra en el libro de Yeshua-Yahu (Isaías) 35:6 donde dice que los cojos saltaran como venados y los mudos gritaran con gozo. También dice que agua saldrá en lugares áridos como fuentes en el desierto. Papa Lupe a menudo leía este pasaje y cuando yo oía el verso que dice, Manantiales en el desierto algo muy profundo en estas palabras brincaba dentro de mí con expectativa y con un sentir de que yo pertenecía a esta tierra—como algo con la cual yo conectaría y me volvería en uno con este Neguev a cierto punto en mi vida.
El hogar de Papa Lupe era un hogar muy humilde en un pedazo de tierra larga y muy angosta en el callejón de Torreón. No obstante, su casa era un hogar totalmente pro-Israel y pro-Judios. Aquí es donde yo aprendí algunos de los misterios de las costumbres y practicas Sefardíes. No obstante, a pesar de todas estas prácticas antiguas, ellos pensaban que estas prácticas eran meramente cultural o familiar, pero no Judío. Ellos habían sido desconectados por tanto tiempo que no apercibían las raíces de su relevancia a las raíces ancestrales del Sefardim Judío. Lo raro es que cada vez que Helen y yo viajamos a Israel, es como el ver a nuestra familia y comunidad por donde quiera que vayamos. No tan solo se parecen los Judios Israelíes a nosotros pero también se portan como nosotros.

This is Part One of a synthesis of the discoveries I’ve made regarding my Sephardic Anusim roots.
Esta es Parte Uno de una síntesis de los descubrimientos que he hecho tocante a mis
raíces Sefardíes Anusim.
This is a bird’s eye view of my personal story which includes a tad of hard science/DNA, a dab of onomastics, another tad of genealogy and a ton of personal history.
It’s significant that after 15 years on this trek, finally, Israeli intelligentsia is hosting a conference on my people: THE WORLDWIDE AWAKENING OF THE DESCENDANTS OF SECRET JEWS (ANUSIM).
Introduction
My name is Delfino F. (Flores) Sanchez, also known as Dell since 1961. I’m the son of Delfino and Linda Sanchez, born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I attended college and university here in town as well as in California. Helen and I have been married 48 years. We have three children, ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter named after Helen (Elena) which is quite Sephardic in custom.
I have served on the faculty of various colleges and universities including the Worden School of Social Services at Our Lady of the Lake University here in town, as well as Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. I founded and directed an educational television station (KHCE TV-23). During this time, I was head pastor for twenty-four years of a bilingual, Evangelical congregation in this city’s Westside where my father was the virtual founder in the mid 1950’s. I come from a long line of minsters on both sides of my parents.
Upon discovery of my true Sephardic Anusim heritage in 1996, I launched myself into a life of inquiry and investigation. Helen and I have traveled tens of thousands of miles during these years of discovery. Since then, we’ve traveled to many institutions of higher learning and archive centers all across the Southwest of the USA including Mexico, Spain and twice a year to Israel—in search of our roots.
Since then, I’ve published ten books, five of which are in English; four are translated into Spanish and one into German. My recent book is titled, “Out from Hiding—Evidences of Sephardic roots among Latinos.” This book is a micro synthesis of what we’ve learned in the last 15 years. I must say the knowledge of Sephardic Anusim roots was shocking to me but not to Helen. She and her entire extended family have forever known they’re Sephardic Anusim—descendants of the Secret Jews of Spain.
For thirty-five years, up until 1996, I always questioned the accuracy of Helen’s admission until I dug deep enough to confirm this truth. Alas, I’m a bona fide believer in my true roots and everything in my life has changed in a most profound and fulfilling way. My calendar has changed and so have my feasts and holidays…my friends and community has changed…my history and my destiny have changed…my place of worship has changed, some elements I wear to worship have changed…the food I eat and don’t eat has changed...the place of my ancestors’ origin has changed to Erez Israel; and a host of other significant customs, practices and behaviors have all dramatically changed. I’ll touch on just a few of these throughout my platica. Even my sense of belonging has changed. I know not only where I belong but that I belong because I’ve felt out of place all of my life up until now.
Bird’s Eye View of our ancestors’ origins
Before going into a few of my gazillion discoveries, let me say that DNA evidence points heavily to Spain as my maternal father as well as Helen’s maternal father’s recent origin going back a few hundred years. Recent DNA advances reveal that my father’s paternal side is from Tuscan, Italy; although our ancient origins point to a Uralic language with its center in areas of Finland.
Separate from our maternal ancestors coming from Iberia, some of our ancient ethnic origin of many of our ancestral women is Eurasia. It so happens that Asia ends and Europe begins in Turkey. However, I must point out that just north of Turkey is Russia; and we know Russia to be quite huge in size and diversity of cultures, races and religions. My private observation is that thousands of years ago, many of our maternal ancestors came from these regions of the world.
Through the centuries, the ancestors of Anusim women wound up in northeastern Mexico. Many centuries later, this region became the enormous Spanish Land Grant given to a(compassionate) Sephardic Conquistador, Don Luis de Carvajal y de la Cueva, and viceroy of El Nuevo Reino del Leon. Due to them marrying Anusim men, many of our maternal ancestors suffered in the Mexican as well as the New Mexican Inquisitions which were the “slow holocausts” of our ancestors.
Interestingly, Helen’s maternal ancestors lived many generations in La Nueva Galicia which includes northeastern Mexico, northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. Her paternal ancestors were like my ancestors within El Nuevo Reino del Leon.
Helen’s maternal ancestors wound up in northern New Mexico, perhaps in Colonial days but certainly during the settlement of New Mexico in the 1600’s by Sephardic Anusim Jews under Don Juan de Onate and de Vargas. Meanwhile my ancestors crossed the Rio Grande during the tumultuous times between Mexico’s liberation from France and La Revolucion Mexicana and into south-central Texas.

Este es un vistazo de pájaro de mi vida personal que incluye un poco de la ciencia de ADN, un poco de onomásticas y otro poco de genealogía y un montón de historial personal.
Es significante que después de 15 años en esta senda, al fin de todo, la inteligencia Israeli está celebrando una conferencia sobre mi gente: EL DESPERTAMIENTO MUNDIAL DE LOS DESCENDIENTES DE LOS JUDIOS SECRETOS (ANUSIM).
Introducción
Mi nombre es Delfino F. (Flores) Sánchez, conocido como Dell desde 1961. Soy el hijo de Delfino y Linda Sánchez, nacido y criado en San Antonio, Texas. Atendí un colegio y universidad aquí en mi ciudad y también en California. Helen y yo tenemos 48 años de casados. Tenemos dos hijas y un hijo, diez nietos y una biznieta llamada como su bisabuela, mi esposa Helen (Elena), cosa que es muy común entre Sefardíes.
He servido en la facultad de varios colegios y universidades incluyendo el la escuela de servicio social (Worden) de la Universidad Our Lady of the Lake en San Antonio como también la Universidad del Estado de Arizona en Tempe. Funde y dirige una estación de televisión educacional (KHCE TV-23). Durante este tiempo, fui pastor por 24 años de una congregación Evangélica bilingüe en un barrio de mi ciudad nativa de San Antonio. Mi padre virtualmente fundo esta congregación en el año 1955. Desciendo de una línea larga de ministros en ambos lados de mis padres.
Cuando descubrí mi verdadera heredad Sefardí Anusim en 1996, me lance a una vida de búsqueda e investigación. Helen y yo hemos viajado decenares de miles de millas durante estos años de descubrimiento. Desde entonces hemos viajado a instituciones de alto aprendizaje y centros de archivos a través de todos los estados del Suroeste de los Estados Unidos incluyendo México, España y dos veces al año a Israel—en búsqueda de nuestras raíces.
Desde entonces, he publicado diez libros, cinco de los cuales están en inglés, cuatro están traducidos al español y uno en alemán. Mi reciente libro que solo está en ingles hasta que lo traduzca se intitula, Out from Hiding—Evidences of Sephardic roots among Latinos. Este libro es un micro síntesis de lo que hemos aprendido en los últimos 15 anos. Debo decir que el conocimiento de las raíces del Sefardim Anusim nos ha dado un choque por lo que hemos aprendido. No obstante, la familia entera de Helen para siempre han sabido que tienen raíces Sefardíes Anusim—y que son descendientes de los Judios secretos de España.
Por 35 años, hasta el año 1996, siempre cuestionaba la veracidad de la admisión de Helen tocante a sus raíces hasta que escarbe suficientemente para confirmar esta verdad. Al fin de todo, ahora soy un creyente en mis raíces verdaderas y todo en mi vida ha cambiado en una manera profunda que trae gran satisfacción a mi vida. Mi calendario ha cambiado y también las fiestas que celebro y los días santos…mi lugar de adoración ha cambiado, algunos elementos de los cuales me visto ha cambiado…la comida que comemos y no comemos ha cambiado…el lugar de orígenes de mis ancestros ha cambiado a Erez Israel, y un sin número de otras costumbres, prácticas y comportamientos han cambiado radicalmente. Después toco sobre estos puntos a través de esta platica. Aun mi perspectiva de donde pertenezco ha cambiado. Ahora no tan solo se dónde pertenezco pero donde no pertenezco también.
Un Vistazo de Pájaro de los Orígenes de Nuestros Ancestros
Antes de entrar en un sin número de descubrimientos, déjeme decir que la evidencia de ADN apunta marcadamente a España porque mi abuelo matero como también el abuelo materno de Helen apuntan a España a través de los últimos siglos. Recientemente, las evidencias de ADN revelan que mi abuelo paterno tiene firmes raíces en Tascan, Italia pero también con raíces Sefardíes. No obstante, las raíces de mi padre apuntan hacia Finlandia y países de lengua Uralic.
A parte de nuestros ancestros maternos viniendo de Iberia (España y Portugal), algunos de nuestros orígenes más antiguos vienen de Eurasia. Suele ser que donde termina Asia empieza Europa en Turquía. No obstante, debo decir que hacia el norte de Turquía esta Rusia. Y sabemos que Rusia es demasiado grande con gran diversidad de culturas, razas y religiones. Mi observación personal es que miles de años pasados, muchos de nuestros ancestros maternos vinieron de estas regiones del mundo.
A través de los siglos, los ancestros de las mujeres Anusim llegaron al noreste de México. Muchos siglos después, esta región se tornó en una enorme porción dada por el Rey Felipe II a Don Luis de Carvajal y de la Cueva. Don Luis era un Conquistador compasivo y virrey del Nuevo Reino del León, responsable directamente al Rey Felipe. Dado que muchas de estas mujeres casándose con hombre Anusim, muchas de nuestros ancestros sufrieron en la Inquisición Mexicana como también la Inquisición de Nuevo México cuales yo llamo los holocaustos lentos porque duraron cienes de anos.
Interesantemente, los ancestros maternos de Helen vivieron en muchas generaciones en La Nueva Galicia que incluye la parte noroeste de México, la parte norte de Nuevo México y el Sur de Colorado. Sus ancestros paternos eran tal como los míos del Nuevo Reino del León.
Los ancestros maternos de Helen se establecieron en el norte de Nuevo México, quizá durante los días Coloniales. Establecieron sus comunidades en Nuevo México durante el siglo 17 bajo la dirección de Don Juan de Oñate, un Sefardí Anusim. Esto fue durante días muy tumultuosos entre la liberación de México de Francia y la Revolucion Mexicana hasta la parte sur-central de Texas.

Helen’s maternal ancestors wound up in northern New Mexico, perhaps in Colonial days but certainly during the settlement of New Mexico in the 1600’s by Sephardic Anusim Jews under Don Juan de Onate and de Vargas. Meanwhile my ancestors crossed the Rio Grande during the tumultuous times between Mexico’s liberation from France and La Revolucion Mexicana and into south-central Texas.

Historia de Dell F. Sánchez
Este es un vistazo de pájaro de mi vida personal que incluye un poco de la ciencia de ADN, un poco de onomásticas y otro poco de genealogía y un montón de historial personal.
Es significante que después de 15 años en esta senda, al fin de todo, la inteligencia Israeli está celebrando una conferencia sobre mi gente: EL DESPERTAMIENTO MUNDIAL DE LOS DESCENDIENTES DE LOS JUDIOS SECRETOS (ANUSIM).
Introducción
Mi nombre es Delfino F. (Flores) Sánchez, conocido como Dell desde 1961. Soy el hijo de Delfino y Linda Sánchez, nacido y criado en San Antonio, Texas. Atendí un colegio y universidad aquí en mi ciudad y también en California. Helen y yo tenemos 48 años de casados. Tenemos dos hijas y un hijo, diez nietos y una biznieta llamada como su bisabuela, mi esposa Helen (Elena), cosa que es muy común entre Sefardíes.
He servido en la facultad de varios colegios y universidades incluyendo el la escuela de servicio social (Worden) de la Universidad Our Lady of the Lake en San Antonio como también la Universidad del Estado de Arizona en Tempe. Funde y dirige una estación de televisión educacional (KHCE TV-23). Durante este tiempo, fui pastor por 24 años de una congregación Evangélica bilingüe en un barrio de mi ciudad nativa de San Antonio. Mi padre virtualmente fundo esta congregación en el año 1955. Desciendo de una línea larga de ministros en ambos lados de mis padres.
Cuando descubrí mi verdadera heredad Sefardí Anusim en 1996, me lance a una vida de búsqueda e investigación. Helen y yo hemos viajado decenares de miles de millas durante estos años de descubrimiento. Desde entonces hemos viajado a instituciones de alto aprendizaje y centros de archivos a través de todos los estados del Suroeste de los Estados Unidos incluyendo México, España y dos veces al año a Israel—en búsqueda de nuestras raíces.
Desde entonces, he publicado diez libros, cinco de los cuales están en inglés, cuatro están traducidos al español y uno en alemán. Mi reciente libro que solo está en ingles hasta que lo traduzca se intitula, Out from Hiding—Evidences of Sephardic roots among Latinos. Este libro es un micro síntesis de lo que hemos aprendido en los últimos 15 anos. Debo decir que el conocimiento de las raíces del Sefardim Anusim nos ha dado un choque por lo que hemos aprendido. No obstante, la familia entera de Helen para siempre han sabido que tienen raíces Sefardíes Anusim—y que son descendientes de los Judios secretos de España.
Por 35 años, hasta el año 1996, siempre cuestionaba la veracidad de la admisión de Helen tocante a sus raíces hasta que escarbe suficientemente para confirmar esta verdad. Al fin de todo, ahora soy un creyente en mis raíces verdaderas y todo en mi vida ha cambiado en una manera profunda que trae gran satisfacción a mi vida. Mi calendario ha cambiado y también las fiestas que celebro y los días santos…mi lugar de adoración ha cambiado, algunos elementos de los cuales me visto ha cambiado…la comida que comemos y no comemos ha cambiado…el lugar de orígenes de mis ancestros ha cambiado a Erez Israel, y un sin número de otras costumbres, prácticas y comportamientos han cambiado radicalmente. Después toco sobre estos puntos a través de esta platica. Aun mi perspectiva de donde pertenezco ha cambiado. Ahora no tan solo se dónde pertenezco pero donde no pertenezco también.
Un Vistazo de Pájaro de los Orígenes de Nuestros Ancestros
Antes de entrar en un sin número de descubrimientos, déjeme decir que la evidencia de ADN apunta marcadamente a España porque mi abuelo matero como también el abuelo materno de Helen apuntan a España a través de los últimos siglos. Recientemente, las evidencias de ADN revelan que mi abuelo paterno tiene firmes raíces en Tascan, Italia pero también con raíces Sefardíes. No obstante, las raíces de mi padre apuntan hacia Finlandia y países de lengua Uralic.
A parte de nuestros ancestros maternos viniendo de Iberia (España y Portugal), algunos de nuestros orígenes más antiguos vienen de Eurasia. Suele ser que donde termina Asia empieza Europa en Turquía. No obstante, debo decir que hacia el norte de Turquía esta Rusia. Y sabemos que Rusia es demasiado grande con gran diversidad de culturas, razas y religiones. Mi observación personal es que miles de años pasados, muchos de nuestros ancestros maternos vinieron de estas regiones del mundo.
A través de los siglos, los ancestros de las mujeres Anusim llegaron al noreste de México. Muchos siglos después, esta región se tornó en una enorme porción dada por el Rey Felipe II a Don Luis de Carvajal y de la Cueva. Don Luis era un Conquistador compasivo y virrey del Nuevo Reino del León, responsable directamente al Rey Felipe. Dado que muchas de estas mujeres casándose con hombre Anusim, muchas de nuestros ancestros sufrieron en la Inquisición Mexicana como también la Inquisición de Nuevo México cuales yo llamo los holocaustos lentos porque duraron cienes de anos.
Interesantemente, los ancestros maternos de Helen vivieron en muchas generaciones en La Nueva Galicia que incluye la parte noroeste de México, la parte norte de Nuevo México y el Sur de Colorado. Sus ancestros paternos eran tal como los míos del Nuevo Reino del León.
Los ancestros maternos de Helen se establecieron en el norte de Nuevo México, quizá durante los días Coloniales. Establecieron sus comunidades en Nuevo México durante el siglo 17 bajo la dirección de Don Juan de Oñate, un Sefardí Anusim. Esto fue durante días muy tumultuosos entre la liberación de México de Francia y la Revolucion Mexicana hasta la parte sur-central de Texas.

I would’ve never imagined, before 9/11, that the day was coming when our streets and malls would be packed with military and police officers armed with assault rifles due to terror threats. Such is the case in DC and NYC during this 10th anniversary since that infamous day of 9/11.
But what is the relevance, if any, between 9/11 and the Jewish (Biblical) High Holy Days that are upon us now?
On 9/11, America was attacked by terrorist Moslem Arabs. This was at the eve of the Jewish High Holy Days. Twenty-eight years prior to 9/11, in 1973, most of the Arab nations in the Middle East attacked Israel during the High Holy Days. This happened on the holiest day of the year—Yom Kippur (the Yom Kippur War or the Day of Atonement).
Here we are today being threatened again on the 10th anniversary of 9/11. When does it all stop? It stops with Messiah and His troops. Jews say Messiah will be Messiah Ben David, Christians say it’ll be the Son of David, Yeshua (Jesus).
On the other hand, Moslems expect their own messiah called, “Mahdi.” In fact, I believe he’s late according to their own predictions. So they’re trying to force a world-wide Intifada that’ll usher in their messiah before the true Messiah comes.
At a time of terror around the world and fears of an economic collapse in America, Messiah is soon to come. Whether you’re Jewish or Christian, there is hope!
Imagine for a moment a Messiah-King without need of presidents, prime ministers and rulers. Imagine a government without politicians, democrats, republicans, libertarians, socialists, communists and anarchists. Imagine no more wars in the Middle East, Afghanistan; and no more nuclear threats from Iran’s madman. And imagine no more worrying about Russia and China and North Korea or Venezuela or another Great Depression.
As we enter this solemn time of remembering 9/11, may our hearts be humbled as we enter a more solemn time to our God—the High Holy Days beginning with Rosh Hashanah, proceeding on to Yom Kippur and then Sukkoth or the Feast of Tabernacles. As we pray for one another, let us not forget to pray for our Jewish brethren, for Israel and the “Peace of Jerusalem.”

Pero ¿Cuál es la relevancia entre 9-11 y las fiestas Bíblicas Judías de los Altos Días Santos que ya están sobre nosotros?
En el día 9-11, América fue atacada por terroristas Árabes Islámicos. Esto fue durante la víspera de los Altos Días Santos Bíblicos. Veintiocho años antes del 9-11, en 1973, la mayoría de naciones Árabes en el Medio Este atacaron a Israel durante estos mismos Días Sagrados. Esto aconteció durante el día más santo de todo el año—en Yom Kippur (conocido como la Guerra de Yom Kippur en el Día de Expiación).
Aquí estamos hoy otra vez siendo asechados en este décimo aniversario del 9-11. ¿Cuándo parara todo esto? Todo esto para con el Mesías y Sus tropas. Lo Judios dicen que el Mesías es Mesías Ben David y los Cristianos dicen que es el Hijo de David, Yeshua o Jesús.
Por el otro lado, musulmanes están esperando su propio mesías llamado en árabe, Mahdi. Yo creo este Mahdi esta tarde según predicciones Musulmanes. Así es que están tratando de forzar sobre el mundo una Intifada que forzara a su mesías a que venga antes del Mesías verdadero.
Durante un tiempo de terror alrededor del mundo con temores de una caída total económica en América, el Mesías viene pronto. Sea usted Judío o Cristiano, hay esperanza.
Imagine por un momento un Mesías-Rey sin necesidad de presidentes, primeros ministros, y emperadores. Imagine un gobierno sin políticos, demócratas, republicanos, libertinos, socialistas, comunistas y anarquistas. Imagine no más guerras en el Medio Este, Afganistán y no más asechanzas nucleares del tonto de Irán. E imagínese no más mortificación tocante a Rusia y China ni el Norte de Corea o Venezuela u otra Gran Depresión.
En tanto entramos en este tiempo solemne de recordar el 9-11, que nuestros corazones estén humillados en tanto entramos en un tiempo más solemne de los Altos Días Santos que incluyen Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur y Sukkoth (Fiesta de Tabernáculos). En tanto oramos unos por los otros, no olvidemos de orar por nuestros hermanos Judios, por Israel y por la “La Paz de Jerusalén.”

ARAB WORLD CRISES
ARAB WORLD CRISES
--My Personal View—
I’m often asked two questions these days. One, “What’s your opinion about the whole Middle East Moslem uprisings?” Secondly, “Do you believe your people, the Sephardim Anusim are whom the Prophet Obadiah’s referring to in verse 20?” My concern is–is there any connection between the two? My response is, YES THERE IS. Let’s begin with the Middle East.
What’s taking place in the Middle East and other Moslem Mediterranean nations is obvious. Almost every single Moslem country down there is aflame with civil unrest and the expulsion of their long standing rulers. “But why now?” you ask. I believe God has shown me the reason so let me briskly explain.
The Moslem Arab population of the world, in particular the Middle East, has determined that their leaders (presidents, prime ministers, kings, rulers) show no sign of being their long awaited messiah, the 12th Imam. If their leader was to emerge as their hidden messiah they would’ve seen signs of it a long time ago but nothing has happened. In fact, the only thing that’s taken place is worse conditions with no promise of taking over the world as the Moslem faith believes.
They also see that the Palestinian Moslems living in Gaza and the West Bank aren’t making headway in taking over Israel either. Plus they’ve discovered that President Barak Hussein Obama shows no promise of being even close to being neither their messiah nor his forerunner. So what then?
The inevitable and ultimate step is to FORCE turmoil in their countries in the hope of their messiah stepping in to liberate them and begin the globe’s takeover. They know that their messiah won’t show up until great turmoil and distress has taken root in their communities. They also know that both, Jews and Christians have their version of Messiah so they’d like to precipitate the 12th Imam/messiah to pop out of wherever he’s at right now.
Now…what does all this have to do with my people, the Sephardim Anusim? Let me first say that the Prophet Obadiah said, “…the exiles of Jerusalem that are in Sepharad (Spain) will occupy/possess the Negev,” (1:20b).
It’s obvious that the Sephardim that have lived on the eastern side of the Atlantic Ocean and have immigrated to Israel have not chosen to dwell in the Negev. They’ve had over 60 years to do so; but they’ve chosen other locations of Israel and show no desire of occupying the Negev. So who does this leave to occupy/possess the Negev and be part of the “Voice of one calling in the desert” to prepare the way for the true Messiah? The Sephardim of the West, of course. The Western Sephardim are known as Anusim because their forefathers were tortured and coerced to convert to Catholicism during the infamous days of the Spanish, the Portuguese and the Mexican Inquisitions.
It isn’t the Eastern Sephardim that yearn to possess the Negev–it’s the Western Sephardim, the Anusim that long to see their Negev blossom as the Prophet Isaiah states in the 35th chapter of his book. In fact, the majority of these Anusim have always lived in geographic regions that look and feel very much like “their Negev.”
So what’s the connection between the Moslem Arab uprising and the returning of the Sephardim Anusim to their Negev? The last verse of the Prophet Obadiah says it all. Obadiah says that after these (Western) Sephardic Jews immigrate and settle in the Negev, God is going to raise up a very special army. He says, “Then saviors (with a lower case ‘s’) will ascend Mt. Zion, judge the mountains of Edom and (then) the kingdom shall be the Lord’s (Messiah).”
All hell is scared to death of this prophecy, and radical Moslems are too. Some Jewish scholars do not say, “Judge Edom” but “wreak havoc” on Edom. It is my firm conviction that yesterday’s Edom is today’s Moslem world that tries to force their own Sharia Laws everywhere they go.
As in the case with Japan’s recent earthquake, fires and tsunami which are wreaking havoc in their nuclear facilities—no one would’ve ever imagined that a nuclear holocaust could come any way other than by someone pushing the button or pulling the trigger! But now we see that nature itself has ways of throwing off man’s most ingenious plans as in this case.
Likewise, no one would’ve ever imagined that God would allow the destruction of Moslem Arabs by other Moslem Arabs in the manner in which we are seeing today. I would’ve never thought that the Middle East would go blow up in flames, as it has been, by those that yearn to take over Erez Israel and her Negev too!
Finally, we must pray feverishly that God build a shield of protection around all of Israel against these wild fires…that God raise up a true and spiritual voice among the Jewish people…that God open the flood gates for my people to return to the homeland of their forefathers…and that Messiah enter the scene post haste. – Amen!

As in the case with Japan’s recent earthquake, fires and tsunami which are wreaking havoc in their nuclear facilities—no one would’ve ever imagined that a nuclear holocaust could come any way other than by someone pushing the button or pulling the trigger! But now we see that nature itself has ways of throwing off man’s most ingenious plans as in this case.
Likewise, no one would’ve ever imagined that God would allow the destruction of Moslem Arabs by other Moslem Arabs in the manner in which we are seeing today. I would’ve never thought that the Middle East would go blow up in flames, as it has been, by those that yearn to take over Erez Israel and her Negev too!
Finally, we must pray feverishly that God build a shield of protection around all of Israel against these wild fires…that God raise up a true and spiritual voice among the Jewish people…that God open the flood gates for my people to return to the homeland of their forefathers…and that Messiah enter the scene post haste. – Amen!

Edom’s Doom! -- --Israel’s Enemies Destroying Themselves—
“This is what the Sovereign LORD says about Edom-We have heard a message from the LORD: An envoy was sent to the nations to say, ‘Rise, and let us go against her for battle.’” Obadiah 1:1
Today, Israel is surrounded by fires of revolt and civil war in neighboring Arab countries. These conflicts are creating huge updraft flames with the potential of leaping across Israeli borders soon.
For more than a generation, Israel has known what it can expect from its unfriendly neighbors. Today, it’s almost impossible to predict how this could affect Israel amidst enormous vacuums of major transitions.
One factor that complicates this matter is that Israelis and Jews around the world fervently anticipate the coming of Messiah. Conversely, the Moslem world is appealing to Allah that he sends their messiah known as the 12th Imam.
Most Moslems believe their messiah will be a descendant of Muhammad and the son of Fatima with a broad forehead and pointed nose. They say he will return just before the end of the world and his appearance will be preceded by a number of prophetic events during 3 years of horrendous world chaos, tyranny and oppression. (Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?) They also believe that he will rule for 7 years. They say he will lead prayer in Mekkah and that Jesus will be at his side and follow him in this process.
For the last five years, I’ve been predicting the fall of radical Islam. I have taught many sessions over television and in public seminars on this topic. My view is that today’s radical Islam is directly linked to ancient Edom—one of Israel’s worst all-time enemies in bible times.
The destruction of Edom is foretold by half a dozen prophets. The prophet Obadiah provides the clearest picture of how God intends to deal with Edom which is today’s Islam. He even includes a vital assertion regarding Sephardim’s role in the context of Edom’s destruction.
Before I point to Sephardim’s role in Edom’s Armageddon, let me highlight why God is so angry with today’s Edomites and what He intends to do about it according to the Prophet Obadiah.
Obadiah highlights the reasons why God’s anger has peaked against Edom (radical Islam) today. A few reasons why Obadiah declared God’s anger was because of:
Their deceptive pride (verse 3) … violence against brother (v. 10) … they stood aloof during their exile (v. 11) … looked down on brother (v. 12a) … rejoiced in Judah’s calamity (v. 12b) … boasted in their trouble ( v. 12c) … invaded them in their disaster (v. 13) … ambushed their fugitives (v. 14a) and handed over the escapees (v. 14b)…
Since 9-11, these modern-day Edomites have caused approximately 10,000 terrorist attacks. The result has been approximately 60,000 dead and 90,000 injured.
The very words of demonized Moslem leaders such as Iran’s Ahmadinejad add fuel to the fires these Moslem countries. For instance, on February 2, 2008, Ahmadinejad said that Israel is a “dirty microbe” and a “savage animal” and that they must be uprooted.
Israel’s Back Yard Terrorist Leader, Ahmed Yassin said: “Israel must disappear from the map.”
What’s worst is how an American woman, Helen Thomas, made a bigoted statement that got her fired as a writer for the Hearst Newspapers. On May 27, 2010, she declared that all Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine (Israel)” and go home to “Germany, Poland and America.”
It’s important to know that the Moslem Koran’s manual called the Hadith demands its followers to feverishly adhere to doctrines of hate and violence. For example, these Manual states: “Jihad is your duty under any ruler, be he godly or wicked. It also dictates that, “Paradise is in the shadow of swords.”
This is why Obadiah records a few of the ways in which God is going to judge and punish today’s Edomites. Below, I document the very punishments which Obadiah declares God is going to perform against Edom. He is going to:
1. Avenge His children
2. Confuse and chase Esau
3. Destroy, desolate, demolish, drunken and drag Esau
4. Horrify Esau
5. Indict Esau
6. Judge Esau
7. Punish Esau
8. Retard Esau with lack of reason/wisdom
9. Slaughter and shame Esau
10. Terrify Esau
11. And waste Esau’s brood once and for all.
Obadiah also says what God intends to do to Israel’s enemies. I have selected but a handful of a dozen or more declarations of what God intend to do to Israel’s and they include the following.
God is going to avenge His children. Obadiah says that God is going to confuse, chase, destroy, demolish, desolate, drunken, drag, punish and even retard them. In the 18th verse of this one-chapter book, Obadiah says, “There will be no survivors.”
Two things are at the brink of taking place which includes the Sephardim.
At the exact moment when they’re needed and probably most “wanted,” they will make their entrance—not a minute early or a minute late! You can find this in the second part of the 20th verse. One bible version says they’ll “occupy” and another version says they’ll “possess” the Negev. I contend you can occupy without taking possession and you can possess without occupying; but, I insist it’ll include both.
Secondly, not until these lost and forgotten Sephardic Anusim Jews have made their entrance, there will be an earth shattering spectacle. This spectacle is what Obadiah 21 states: “Then saviors shall come to Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom shall be the LORD's.” (NKJV)
I love the first word of this verse, “THEN.” In other words, as soon as everyone’s in place, including the Sephardic Anusim of the Americas, THEN and only then do we see the grand finale. We’ll see “saviors” come (up) to Mount Zion. These “saviors” are also referred to as “rescuers” and “liberators” in other bible versions. This army of champions will take over Jerusalem and her Zion and then “judge the mountains of Esau.”

My ID Massacre! -- I’m a Marked Man!
I’ve been upset, sad and angry, hurt and disappointed…the whole “enchilada.” But I can now say that I can laugh in the face of my oppositions and disappointments.
The first time I realized I was a marked man was when a high ranking Israeli leader showed me a file they had on me. I was shocked! I was speechless and stupefied. I asked myself, “How in the world would such records get all the way to this high office in Jerusalem?”
Sure enough, this was only the beginning of a terrible series of reports on me and my activities. (Not to worry because I’m not setting the stage for a horrible confession of any sort!) I must say that almost all those reports were false or contained outdated and erroneous information.
Another Israeli leader threw some acronyms of organizations I didn’t even recognize. What’s worse, they associated me with Christian councils and organizations I’ve long resigned from or never even belonged to. If they would’ve only asked—I would’ve told them but they chose to “Google” me through the internet. All they used was false and erroneous information.
I’ve been accused of being a missionary, a Messianic, a Baptist pastor, a Jewish imposter, a Jews for Jesus fanatic and on and on. The truth is that I’ve been none of these!
A vicious group of individuals that I’ll refer to as “wanna-be Jews” published a report on me saying that “The jury is out, now we know that Dell Sanchez is a Baptist pastor…” Frankly, I’ve never even been a Baptist nor a Baptist pastor. What often hurts the most is that the handful of these individuals happens to be from among my own people that have become embittered enemies of our cause.
It’s strange that these few “wanna-be Jews” do the very things that Torah talks against such as presenting false reports and even alienating sincere learners. And a few Christians do about the same thing forgetting that the New Testament has some luscious words against the evil use of the tongue. I must admit that the only Jews I hang out with are “real Jews” that love God and respect me; this includes a few are wonderful rabbis!
As I said before, I can now laugh in the face of all these cartoons—but I still prefer Laurel and Hardy; but, hey, I’m learning to love even those that see themselves as my enemy. They don’t know they’re doing me a favor of keeping the sword of my life razor sharp. I’ll have you know that I’m having the greatest time of my life! I’ll have you know that I’ve never been closer and more intimate with God than today. And I’ve never had such great friends and trustworthy people as now, although few.
I leave you first with the words of Solomon and also David.
Solomon wrote: “A prudent man keeps his knowledge to himself, but the heart of fools blurts out folly.” (Proverbs 12:23)
David wrote: “O God, whom I praise, do not remain silent, 2 for wicked and deceitful men have opened their mouths against me; they have spoken against me with lying tongues. 3 With words of hatred they surround me; they attack me without cause. 4 In return for my friendship they accuse me, but I am a man of prayer. 5 They repay me evil for good, and hatred for my friendship.” (Psalm 109:1-5)

Prophecy for 2011
Not Effort but Sacrifice!

First, I need to emphasize that you do not need to be a prophet to have foresight and to share your personal prognostications of what you perceive could take place in the future. This statement is more than a shot in the dark--it is something that's deep in my (spiritual) gut. So please cut me a little slack as you read it. If you don't agree, that's fine with me. Either way, I'd like your comments on it.
The year 2010 included two exoduses. As we exited 2010, the weekly Torah portion led us into the Book of Exodus (i.e., exiting). I’m just now remembering that God whispered into my heart that He is ushering us into a desert-exodus experience this year.
I believe God is leading America into a desert of sorts. We’re not to worry because God’s intent is for our good and not for our harm. I do not think this desert wilderness will last 40 years but I do know it is intended to TEST us. Needless to say, we’re at the brink of tests that come in the form of mighty shakings.
Exodus 16:4-5 says, “Then the LORD said to Moses, ‘I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.’” Please note, God is saying that He wants ‘to see whether we will follow His instruction’ and directives. In other words, the good news is that He wills to instruct and direct us if we let Him. We have nothing to loose if we do and all to loose if we don’t.
Exodus 20:20 says that Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.” His tests are intended to keep us from sinning any more. In other words, God’s intent is to STOP US from sinning—because we have sinned pretty miserably.
God’s test includes no less than two things.
First, God is taking our “toys” away from us. Secondly, God is requiring more than our good efforts—He is demanding sacrifice. Let me explain.
God is stripping us, including our government from the toys that have consumed much of our attention, money and time. God is stripping us of our pet projects which kept us too busy from truly listening and depending on Him. We’ve become addicted to the little toys that keep us so busy on an individual and a national basis. We see this in the news every single day—how God is stripping our government from material things we took for granted which led to mismanagement of God’s resources. This is sending shock waves all across our nation and also affecting all nations of the world. And He isn’t through with us yet.
Secondly, God is requiring real sacrifices from each and every American citizen. Situations that we could previously accomplish with some good effort will no longer work this year. God has led us to the point where we must go way above and beyond the very best efforts we could ever engage in. God is expecting us to make real sacrifices in order to attain His best for us and for our nation.
Psalms 51:16-17 reads: “You do not delight in sacrifice, or I would bring it; you do not take pleasure in burnt offerings. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise.”
In other words, God will no longer endure what we called our personal sacrifices which became nothing more than route and routine. He is requiring the sacrifices of a “broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart…”
This sounds much like that which God spoke to King Solomon in 2 Chronicles 7:14: “…if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Now this is what I call sacrifice in this day and age in our nation–willingness to humble ourselves, a real commitment to pray and truly seek God’s face and to turn from our “wicked ways.” But this shouldn’t be a sacrifice if we hadn’t become such a proud and arrogant people.
The epitome of the sacrifice God’s calling for is captured in Psalm 50:5 which says, “Gather to me my consecrated ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice."
God doesn’t want another temporary or provisional commitment. He wants a permanent and irreversible covenant with Him which can take place only by our daily and personal sacrifice. This is the only way that, individually, we’ll press beyond the insurmountable obstacles that lay before us. And this is also the only way that our nation might possibly remain as the number-one nation in the world. Failure to do this only spells our nation’s bankruptcy.
And if our nation goes down, most Americans will go down too. Conversely, if most Americans go down, we’ll pull our entire nation along with us too.
So it is that we do not need a new set of toys and addicting pet projects to keep us busy or entertained. We need 2 Chronicles 7:14 to become our daily prayer and action. We need to contract every muscle within our being to sacrifice itself so that we might finally achieve God’s purpose and destiny for us and for our nation.
In conclusion, the title for the first Torah reading for the New Year reads: “And I appeared.” I earnestly believe that if we follow the 2 Chronicles 7:14 formula set by The Almighty, He shall appear to our nation once again. I believe God will “hear from heaven and will forgive (our) sin and will heal (our) land”—and this begins with you and me today.

God doesn’t want another temporary or provisional commitment. He wants a permanent and irreversible covenant with Him which can take place only by our daily and personal sacrifice. This is the only way that, individually, we’ll press beyond the insurmountable obstacles that lay before us. And this is also the only way that our nation might possibly remain as the number-one nation in the world. Failure to do this only spells our nation’s bankruptcy.
And if our nation goes down, most Americans will go down too. Conversely, if most Americans go down, we’ll pull our entire nation along with us too.
So it is that we do not need a new set of toys and addicting pet projects to keep us busy or entertained. We need 2 Chronicles 7:14 to become our daily prayer and action. We need to contract every muscle within our being to sacrifice itself so that we might finally achieve God’s purpose and destiny for us and for our nation.
In conclusion, the title for the first Torah reading for the New Year reads: “And I appeared.” I earnestly believe that if we follow the 2 Chronicles 7:14 formula set by The Almighty, He shall appear to our nation once again. I believe God will “hear from heaven and will forgive (our) sin and will heal (our) land”—and this begins with you and me today.
